The European Health Data & Evidence Network (EHDEN) recently completed its 4th and final open call for SMEs (Small & Medium-sized Enterprises), paving the way for an acceleration in mapping health data from various formats and institutions to the OMOP common data model. This will ultimately result in a Europe that more smartly manages and utilises healthcare data, which shares research methodologies and expands education in open science and collaboration.
Nineteen SMEs have been selected from a pool of 40 eligible applications. These 19 SMEs from 12 different countries will now start their learning journey via the EHDEN Academy, our online, free, and publicly available learning platform. The SME curriculum consists of five courses that provide training in all the necessary skills to work with EHDEN's Data Partners in harmonising their health data to the OMOP CDM: EHDEN Foundation/OHDSI-in-a-box/OMOP CDM & Standardised vocabularies/Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) process/OHDSI Infrastructure. Once certified, these 19 new SMEs will join our current pool of 47 previously certified SMEs (Cf our SME Catalogue for more information).
“Expanding our geographically diverse SME network has been a critical step in building an ecosystem that supports a range of Data Partners and other stakeholders in mapping and using health data, whilst supporting an evolving SME marketplace,” said Nigel Hughes, Scientific Director, Epidemiology, Janssen, and Co-Lead of EHDEN.
